On October 3, 2004, Ohio was honored to present 9 year old, Jennifer Paugh, a HIKE grant. Jennifer and her family were invited to our "Flight School" (Ohio's leadership rally) and after the presentation, she joined Ohio in learning more about Job's Daughters and played games.
Jennifer had received her check prior to the official presentation and was able to wear her new hearing device to show all those present. Grace H., Ohio District 1 HIKE Representation and Chaplain of Bethel #28, presented Jennifer with a pencil with the alphabet in sign language, and the Windy the Pooh HIKE charm. Her mother received an "I Love You" key chain. Mrs. Paugh told everyone that this was the first time Jennifer has ever been able to hear in her left ear. She started crying and you could see how thankful she was for HIKE and you could also see it in her daughter's eyes too. She said she was so grateful for an organization that was able to help her daughter hear. |

Kids Helping Kids
At the Lewis and Clark Dinner held on Tuesday, September 28th, at the Al Bedoo Shrine auditorium, we presented a $1633 award to Philip Powell, a freshman at MSU-Billings so he could purchase a hearing aid for school. The award was granted by the Hearing Impaired Kids Endowment Fund,Inc. created in 1985. Most commonly known as HIKE, the Fund was developed as the international philanthropic project for Job's Daughters. HIKE is amazing. When you are able to give a child something that you know will change their life forever, it is the most wonderful feeling. HIKE provides children with hearing impairments, from newborns to 20 years old, with hearing devices to help families in need of financial assistance. To see the look on the family's face when you hand them the check makes you realize the deep impact of your actions on other people. We feel honored to have been able to make this presentation and would
like to thank all those who contributed to our fundraising endeavors
this year. If you are interested in donating to the dreams of hearing
impaired children, send a check for whatever amount, big or small, to
your local Bethel. Thank you for your support. |

The Ladybug Incentive charms are given in this order; USA, Canada, Australia, Philippines and Brazil and then repeated unless ILY Hands are requested. Each daughter's contribution is recorded and when it reaches $25 she is sent the next charm. It is very important when you send in contributions (please use the Incentive Order Form) that you spell the daughters name the same way each time. i.e. Judy Smith, Judi Smith and Judith Smith could result in entries for three different daughters and they could in fact be the same "Judi".
