HIKE Award February 2008
On
February 24, 2008, at Culvers Ice Cream in Beaver Dam three HIKE presentations
were made. John Walz, 12 years old, Laura Walz, 14 years old, and Andrew Beecken, 11
years old, were presented with HIKE checks by the Daughter HIKE Coordinator,
the Grand Guardian of Wisconsin, and the Wisconsin HIKE Coordinator.
The Walz family and the Beecken family attended the presentation. Two

Allie Long, 7 years old, along with the Long family was escorted to the east before the opening of a meeting of Bethel #69, Westerville, Ohio. Gwen, the Ohio Miss Job’s Daughter and Ohio Miss Congeniality for 2007-08 talked about HIKE and about Allie and then presented her with the check, a certificate and a stuffed fish. Mr. Long spoke on behalf of the family and thanked Job’s Daughters. Pictures were taken and the Long family was escorted out of the Bethel room. The

for a promotional on Job’s Daughters and HIKE.
Following the educational offering a HIKE grant was presented to four
year old Gavin Ruckes and his family. Minnesota HIKE AwardSubmitted
by Amanda LaBlanc, GM MN, PMIJD On March 1, 2008 at a regular meeting of Bethel #13, Rochester, Minnesota, a HIKE award was made to 8 year old Carmina Bruktainis. Carmina was joined by her mother and older sister. Upon conclusion of the Bethel meeting the members of Bethel #13 and Minnesota Daughter HIKE Coordinator, Kaitlin, discussed Job’s Daughters and the HIKE Fund. After which a check was presented to Carmina in the amount of $1,609. The donation made to the
family will be used to buy much-needed hearing aids. Carmina’s mother was
overwhelmed with the gift, shook the hand of each member of the Bethel, and
expressed how important new hearing aids will be in her daughter’s
development; both socially and in terms of her education. After the presentation Bethel #13 hosted a reception to honor Carmina and her family. Submitted by Donna Goede, GG MO
Bethel 43 Fenton, Missouri and the Haley Family On Thursday April 17, 2008 Job’s Daughters International presented four year old Klara Haley and her family with the necessary funds to get hearing aids for Klara! Klara was born with a rare medical condition that includes profound hearing loss. Her parents were thrilled to receive the funds that will allow St. Louis Children’s Hospital’s Audiology Center to fit her with hearing aids. The members of Job’s Daughters International support the Hearing Impaired Kids Endowment Fund by raising funds in a variety of ways, but most often by holding local “hikes”. The Grand Bethel Honored Queen of Missouri, Miss Diane Lynch and the Grand Guardian of Missouri, Mrs. Donna Goede made the presentation at Bethel Number 43 of Fenton, Missouri. The members of Bethel 43 and their Honored Queen, Elaine Niemeyer assisted in the presentation. Klara, her parents and younger sister Nora as well as other family members were in attendance. Job’s Daughters in an organization for girls between 10 and 20 years of age. The group learns leadership skills, public speaking and works for their community and many other charity causes.
